SISTER TO MY GRANDFATHER ALONZO HALL
Jesse Emma Hall was born to James Madison Hall and Mary Prosser Hall on 17 June 1850 in Baldwin Co Ga. She was one of 13 children. She married Henry Jordon Hodges of Sandersville Ga on 15 December 1872. She died 21 May 1926 in Washington Co Ga. She was a sister to my grandfather Alonzo Hall. MY FATHER SAMUEL WILKES HALL
The photo above is of my father Samuel Wilkes Hall taken in October of 1899. He was nine months old. He lived in Lincoln and later Talladega Al with his parents Alonzo and Lula Wilkes Hall. Samuel was born 13 January 1899. His grandparents were The Reverend Washington Usher Wilkes and Mary Lamar Wilkes of Sylacauga Al and James Madison Hall and Mary Prosser Hall of Baldwin Co Ga.

MY GRANDMOTHER LULA WILKES HALL
This is a photo of my grandmother Lula Wilkes Hall, wife to Alonzo Hall. Her parents were The Reverend Washington Usher Wilkes and Mary Lamar Wilkes. She was born in June of 1864 and died in February of 1933 in Talladega Ala. She lived in Sylacauga Ala with her parents when she met and married Alonzo Hall. He was a widower with two children, Mamie Lucille Hall and Lyman Hall. She and Alonzo had two children, Myrtle and Samuel Wilkes Hall. Lula was a graduate of a music conservatory in Cincinatti Ohio. She enjoyed teaching piano to students in her home. Music was a life long joy to her. Her daughter Myrtle was a graduate of Judson College as a voice major. Samuel graduated from Howard College in Birmingham Ala. He majored in Latin and minored in Greek. He was an excellent tennis player and enjoyed the sport for many years.
Lula and Alonzo lived in Sylacauga where he taught English, near Lincoln Ala where he taught English, and in Talladega Ala where he was employed by the US Postal Service.

MY GREAT GRANDFATHER THE REVEREND WASHINGTON USHER WILKES
This is a photo of The Reverend Washington Usher Wilkes. He was my paternal great grandfather. He was born 22 March 1822 in Marlboro Co SC. He married Mary Lanier Lamar in 1854. He died 23 Nov 1894 in Cullman AL. His wife Mary was born in AL about 1827 to John Lamar and Martha Dubose Lamar. They were French Hugenaut. Washington Wilkes was the son of Elias Wilkes and Hannah Usher Wilkes. He was a Baptist minister.Their children were James L, Sadie O, Lula, Judson, Mary H, John D, Thomas I. James married Jennie Harris. Sadie married J T Brown. My grandmother Lula married Alonzo Hall. Judson married Essie Powell. Mary married a Mr Crosland and later a Mr Dillard.
